4th of July - road trip home

Hard to believe it is already July, another year is flying by. We ventured home for the first time this summer for the 4th of July festivities in Holts Summit/Jeff City and Fulton. We got into Holts Summit Thursday evening and were able to take in the town's fireworks. The weather was actually chilly for July so we watched from inside the car. Kaleb was much happier inside the car anyway, he wasn't so sure about all the loud booms.
Friday, Kaleb & Dennis ventured up to the Lamons Farm for some country fun. They fed the cows and goats, dug fresh potatoes, played with the new barn kittens and rode 4 wheelers around all the property. Kaleb was in kid heaven! Of course I left our camera back in St. Louis, so we don't have any fun pictures to share. He also got to spend some good play time with his cousin Rachel. They really get along well and Kaleb loves following her around and learning the ins and outs of the farm. While Dennis & Kaleb were in Fulton, I ran down to the Lake of the Ozarks for some outlet shopping with my mom. I am glad I am not always 30 minutes away from the outlets, it would be dangerous!
Friday afternoon, we headed "up town" to the Jeff City street fair to see the old cars. There was some good people watching going on! The weather was so nice, there was quite the crowd. We ducked into Madisons for an early dinner before we had to head back to Fulton.
We spent Friday evening at the Fulton Country Club with Dennis' sister, Marcia, and boyfriend, Joe. Dennis got to catch up with several high school buddies while Kaleb and I played in the open area. Kaleb got to ride in the golf carts with Joe. The CC had their own fireworks display, that Marcia actually coordinated, so we sat about 80 yards from where they were set off. Kaleb was NOT HAPPY!! Even with his blanket and my hands over his ears, he still wanted to leave. He managed to stop crying about 5 minutes in, but didn't seemed so pleased with the awesome show. The whole next day when we asked if he liked the fireworks, he said they made him sad, real sad. Perhaps next year we will try some ear-muffs!
Saturday there was more fun on the farm, this time I got in on the action and then Marcia had the whole Lamons family and my parents over for a bbq. We had sent our new corn hole boards home earlier in the week, so the Lamons crew were exposed to the fun. The men had a good time trying to beat each other. Kaleb and Rachel played in a couple kiddie pools Marcia had picked up. They also got Tommy to play along with some water balloons. They had a blast and hardly stopped to eat dinner!
It was a great weekend with lots of quality family time and wonderful memories!

Sounds like fun! We went to Hannibal and had a lot of fun too. Jason has made a new yard game..."Hillbilly Golf" - all we need is a date and a time :)))) oh, and location!

What fun! Hopefully next year the fireworks won't make Kaleb "sad, so sad." :) But he'll still be cute, so cute.
